What is the SCRL Truck Series?
January 20, 2023 | SCRL Truck Series News
As the SCRL Truck Series approaches the start of its fourth season beginning with the clash at Bristol Motor Speedway on January 21st, let's break down the history within the Stock Car Racing League, and what to expect from its drivers when the green flag waves for the Daytona 250.
The Stock Car Racing League is a racing community within iRacing that was founded late in 2020 during the Covid-19 era. The SCRL specializes in Stock Car Racing Auto Racing "which is where the administration group created the name from". The SCRL Truck Series is currently the "premier series", which runs above the newly founded ARCA Series. The Truck Series, on August 6th, begins its third season, and each season has seen it evolve and grow. Since the Truck Series has been founded it has seen many ups and downs but has grown and evolved into one of the best Truck Series leagues found on the iRacing service and is now beginning its fourth season on January 28th.
Some unique features about the SCRL that make the community stand out. We are one of very few free-to-enter racing communities that offer cash prizes for each of its races. The Truck Series champion also receives a $100 cash prize, but in addition to the championship purse the SCRL also features "Cash Nights" which is similar to the NXS Dash for Cash system. Certain races are designated as Cash Nights where the winner of the race wins a set cash prize for the night as long as that driver is within the top 20 in the points standings, if no one within the top 20 in the points standings wins that event then the cash prize is reset for the next week. Last season for the SCRL Truck Series "season 3", half of the 18-race season were Cash Nights, running under the current format that is also being used for this season. The Daytona 250 is the SCRL's biggest event with $30 on the line to kick off the season, last season the event had an outstanding average of 43 live viewers, 64 peak concurrent viewers, 380 total live views, and 247 unique viewers which was broadcasted by our old broadcasting service Arrow Broadcasting Network.
Entering Season 4, the Truck Series schedule has expanded from an 18 to a 20 race season. There is a 14-race regular season, and a 6-race chase to determine the series champion. For the first 14 races the goal that every driver wants to achieve is to win and you lock yourself into the chase. The race winners of the regular season will be joined by the best drivers based on the regular season point standings to create the playoff field of 16 drivers. From there, the top 16 drivers in the championship will contend with each other for 5 races, with the top 4 in points moving on to battle it out for the championship which takes place at Homestead-Miami Speedway on July 1st.
The SCRL Truck Series allows a field up to 38 drivers. As of writing, there are over 30 full time trucks, and over 20 part time trucks set to take part in the season.
There's a lot to be excited about entering season 4 of the SCRL Truck Series. Including a bunch of new drivers with new opportunities in the series to win big and put out an all-out fight for SCRL's top prize to win the Championship. It's time for another great season of the SCRL Truck Series.
